How far should I hit my driver if my swing speed is 100 mph?

Updated October 2026

With a good strike, about 235 to 247 yards of carry and roughly 272 yards total.

Those are TrackMan driver optimizer figures for 100 mph with a level to slightly upward attack angle, and they assume a clean strike with a smash factor in the high 1.40s. TrackMan’s own data says the average golfer runs closer to 1.44, so a carry in the 220s is more typical at this speed.

A few things move the number. Hitting up on the ball adds carry. Low spin adds roll. Cold air and wet fairways take yards away.

At 100 mph you can play almost any ball on the market. The choice comes down to spin and feel, which our 100 mph guide walks through ball by ball.
